Cedar Line House
A slender infill residence organized around a private garden, built for a family that wanted quiet without leaving the city.
Building Along a Narrow Edge
Cedar Line House occupies a tight lot between two existing rowhomes, and its plan responds by pulling all of the living space toward a garden at the rear. The street-facing façade stays modest and reserved, saving its openness for where the family actually spends their time.
A Garden as the Real Front Door
Sliding glass walls open the kitchen and living room directly onto a cedar-clad courtyard, blurring the line between inside and out on warm days. The garden becomes an extension of the house rather than an afterthought, shaping how the family gathers, cooks, and relaxes.
Simple Materials, Carefully Detailed
White stucco, cedar siding, and black steel windows keep the material palette simple, letting proportion and light do the work. Every detail, from the door hardware to the stair railing, was chosen to feel unfussy and built to last.
